Plan your visitto the Alsace Wine Museum in Colmar

Would you like to visit the Alsace Wine Museum in Colmar and discover the secrets of Alsace wines and vineyards? Would you like to plan your visit to our museum?
Here you'll find all the practical information you need to plan your visit.

How does a visit to the Alsatian Wine Museum in Colmar go?

The Alsatian Wine Museum in Colmar is divided into several sections:

  • The first part is devoted to the history of wine in Alsace, thanks in particular to the Klipfel collection, handed down by the estate’s winegrowing family.
  • The next section of the museum is devoted to Alsace’s terroir and the wine trade. Here, you’ll discover the different stages in the work of the vine, from cultivation to the transformation of grapes into wine. This section also highlights the traditional professions associated with Alsace winegrowing, such as cooper, sommelier, glassmaker and gourmet.
  • Then, the museum offers a sensory introduction to the aromas of wine. Visitors have the opportunity to discover eight distinct aromas and associate them with the different grape varieties emblematic of Alsace. You won’t want to miss the Alsace Wine Route. Firstly, a large interactive map allows visitors to explore each village, their vineyards, as well as the various AOC labels and cultural points of interest along this emblematic route.
  • From there, visitors have the opportunity to taste three different glasses from the Domaine Viticole de Colmar range (Riesling, Gewurztraminer or Pinot Noir) or grape juices featuring the aromas of the same grape varieties.
  • To round off your visit, the museum covers topics related to Alsace wines, including the use of wine in cooking, and the traditions and folklore associated with Alsace wines.

Do I need to book tickets in advance?

To plan your visit as effectively as possible, we encourage you to book your tickets in advance, especially during peak periods. This ensures the availability of an audioguide and avoids queues at the museum entrance.
The museum ticket includes access to the museum and all its activities, as well as the audioguide (available in French, English, German, Spanish, Italian and Dutch), which activates the activities and tastings.

Want to extend your discovery of Colmar? Don’t miss our Choco-Story Colmar chocolate museum, located right next to the museum. You can also opt for a combined ticket for the Musée des vins d’Alsace and Choco-Story Colmar. This ticket is valid for 7 days and is only available at the ticket office.
